About
What we do here at the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) Makerspace:
- We’re providing a space for UMass CICS students, faculty, and staff to experiment and create with access to tools, additive and subtractive fabrication machines, and material.
- Use the spaces described below for creation, experimentation, and making projects!
Main Classroom
All tables and chairs are easily movable for collaborative workshop or classroom situations. Each table provides AC power for power users.
Two large monitors and two whiteboards allow access to digital and analog presentation formats.
Conference Room
Behind the main classroom, separated by a glass wall with sliding door, is the conference room with monitor/TV, conference table, and a view of the Progress Bar coffee shop.
The far wall in the photos is floor-to-ceiling whiteboard for thinking great thoughts!
Lounge
The lounge offers couches, end tables, a rolling table, and a big TV. Plug in a retro game system and pretend to think about your next big project.
When you’re in the space you might be tempted to think that this room has a giant whiteboard; this room does NOT offer a whiteboard wall. The full-wall whiteboard is through the doorway to the left, leading to the conference room.
Storage Lockers
Main Workroom
Solder stations, hand tools, 3D printers, and more are here.
