On April 2, 2024 the UMass Libraries hosted an opening reception for an exhibit featuring public interest technology related research and works of art by UMass faculty and students.\u00a0 The exhibit was supported through the collaborative efforts of Public Interest Technology at UMass<\/a> (PIT@UMass), the Responsible Technology Coalition<\/a> (graduate student club), the PIT-Club<\/a> (undergraduate club), Sophia Schweik and Morgan Miller of the BDIC program, and the Libraries.<\/p>

\u201cUMass Amherst is a pioneer in rebooting higher education to promote social responsibility in our tech-powered world,\u201d says Fran Berman, director of Public Interest Technology and PIT@UMass co-founder. \u201cIt\u2019s tremendously exciting to see faculty, students, staff and leadership from all over campus take the lead in creating public interest tech-focused coursework, certificates, events and clubs to build needed 21st century literacies and skills.\u201d<\/p>

Berman added, \u201cThis exhibit celebrates the launch and extraordinary impact of the PIT@UMass initiative and the UMass Public Interest Technology community and ushers in new opportunities for impact on campus, within the region and nationally.\u201d<\/p>


The exhibit runs through May 19th.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>
