The Responsible Technology Coalition<\/a> (RTC) invites students, faculty, and staff to a talk by LSU assistant professor and CICS graduate, Dr. Mahmood Jasim<\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cHuman-Centered Collection and Analysis of Public-Generated Data<\/em>,\u201d is a hybrid event and will take place on February 28, 2024, from 5:30 \u2013 7:00 in Lederle Graduate Research Center, room A112 or online. Pizza and other refreshments will be available. RSVP here<\/a>.<\/p>

Decision making at the personal, local, and national level are increasingly fueled by data collected from public engagement platforms such as social media, review sites, and public solicitation forums. However, these platforms are often far from inclusive and people struggle to share their opinions due to the inaccessibility, rigidity, and safety concerns of these platforms. In this talk,\u00a0Dr. Mahmood Jasim<\/a>\u00a0(LSU Assistant Professor and UMass CICS graduate) will demonstrate how human-centered approaches that involve community stakeholders in the design, development, and evaluation of tools and techniques can lead to inclusive, effective, and efficient approaches to public-generated data collection and analysis to support informed decision-making. Pizza and other refreshments will be served.\u00a0<\/p>

The RTC is a student group focuses on issues related to responsible technology across academia, industry, and government.
